Trip Overview

Indian River Lagoon - Round Island Park

"Manatee" was the word of the day, as in: "there are three manatee right in front of your kayak - back paddle!" and "OK, there is a manatee underneath my kayak..."

It isn't always the case, but on Friday, April 22 we saw lots of active manatee.

Round Island is a great paddling destination for short paddles or overnighters.

On the 22nd we were on the water for just an hour and a half introducing kayaking to 2 girls age 5 and 7. We paddled, floated and had a great time watching fish leap out of the water, birds perch over head in the mangroves.
