Trip Overview

Just another short trip to Indian Lake in west central Ohio. We put in near Long Island and paddled back through the game preserve area. This is very sheltered and can be paddled in just about any weather. Once back in the channels we came across several Great Blue Herons, ducks, geese muskrats and one very noisy beaver. The beaver did that tail slapping thing three times. This was only about an hour paddle around 5:30 Sunday evening. My wife and I are both beginners and this was just our third time out. Hopefully before fall we will have enough experience and confidence to take a few shoreline trips to Lake Erie.

Accommodations:

Lots of places to eat, but few motels. State campground is on the north side of the Lake.

Directions:

To reach the put in at Long Island, turn off of State Route 117 at the big arrow sign that says "Long Island". Follow the road around until you reach a bridge and the so-called ramp is on your right. Its mostly gravel and mud.
