Trip Overview

Most don't know about it, but there is a free boat launch under route 8 in Derby. CT. Go during the change to high tide and it is easy paddling. Within a half mile there is a nice, calm lagoon where we saw a Kingfisher, there is a drainage canal that we paddled right through, there is a small island during low tide and fishing is good, there is the entrance to the Naugatuck River.

From here, you can go all the way to the ocean - which we plan on doing in the coming weeks.
