Launched from Driftwood RV park (stayed there for the weekend). Paddled upriver about 1.5 miles with a stop at the ghost forest. Amazingly
quite and secluded considering the proximity to settlement and highway. Encountered otters, gorgeous lowland forest and the remains of an old wooden rail trestle.
Edit 01.11.2022: This trip peaked my interest in PNW coastal geography and tsunami history, and I have since picked up and read "The Orphan Tsunami of 1700" by Brian F. Atwater et.al. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the phenomena. I hope to add many more coastal kayaking trip memories soon.
