Franklin Lake

Trip Overview

Franklin lake is just shy of 1000 acres and can be paddled around in about 3 hours. We had a campsite at Franklin Lake Campgrounds and launched from our site almost daily. There's also a simple boat launch at the campground. Much of the lake is bordered by the state campground. There are also many private homes, but you can't see most of them (only their piers). There are a few different size bays and an island on one end. There is minimal motorboat traffic but it does go up on the warm summer days. We saw 3 pairs of Loon couples with loonettes and saw two flyovers by a bald eagle.

Gear Notes

Hobie Revolution 11 and Perception America 11

Conditions

It's not a big lake so waves can't build much. It was calm when we paddled.
