Trip Overview
A 3 days, 2 nights out and back trip. In November you get it all for yourself.
Drove up from Charlotte, NC. Arrived at Fontana Lake Village Marina around 1 p.m on a Sunday. Paid the $5 launch fee, Parked my car there (one of the safest parking spots around there). Was paddling out on a quiet lake, past all the houseboats (so many houseboats on the lake) to the 1st campsite about 2 miles. Will be shorter if you go west around the island and "park" on the north shore.
There is a 60ish yard climb up the side of the island. The island is a peninsula even if it is shown as an island.
Put up my hammock and had a quiet evening.
Was raining in the morning until 11ish. Then 10 miles of paddling until next campsite around 2:30ish p.m. had another quiet afternoon/evening.
Third day was around 9 miles back to Fontana Lake Village Marina.
Safety Notes
This is bear country. Not that I saw/heard any.
