Exeter River in New Hampshire

Trip Overview

I will sum this trip up in one word: Ugh! I paddled this river based on the review in the AMC Guide Quiet Water, NH. Instead of some idyllic river with trees draping over the river, I found an uninteresting river with trees that would have to stretch five times over to create a draping affect, except in one short section. The noise from route 108 never leaves for a moment and the river is too boring to make you forget the noise. Save this river for when you're completely desperate and have no where else to do.

Accommodations:

The campgrounds are all 'family campgrounds' which means boom boxes, no privacy and lots of noise. The usual hotels.

Fees:

None.

Directions:

Outside of Exeter, there is a small park called Gillman Park. That's the put in. This is a go one way and come back.
