Eleven Mile Reservoir in Colorado

Trip Overview

Eleven mile reservoir covers 3400 acres with spectacular rock formations along the shoreline. There are several walk-in/canoe-to campsites. You will enjoy great views of South Park and the Continental Divide to the west.

The reservoir is a state park with an entrance fee and a fee for camping. Start with fun paddling to the southeast of the entrance and marina area. There is also a convenient put-in from the backcountry camping parking area. Because the reservoir is a source for Denvers water, no body contact is allowed with the water.

Get your paddling in early in the day, the reservoir is famous for windy afternoons along with afternoon lightning/thunderstorms.

Camping available at the reservoir, motel and store in Lake George.

State Park entrance fee, additional fee to camp.

Directions:

Approximately 55 miles northwest of Colorado springs. Take Highway 24 west to the town of Lake George. One mile west of Lake George turn left at the Eleven Mile RESERVOIR sign (not the Eleven Mile Canyon sign in the town of Lake George). Continue on 11 miles to the park.
