East River in Connecticut

Trip Overview

You need to watch the tide charts while on this river trip. We did not, and went out in the calm, glass like waters of low tide, it was a wonderful, lazy ride, beautiful scenery, we ambled out for 1.5 hours, took pictures, watched the fiddlecrabs, birds, boats, and nice houses.

But, on the way back, we caught the current going the wrong way and a very strong ocean breeze. We had to paddle so hard for about an hour. I got blisters on my hands because I didn't think I needed my gloves.

I would recommend this trip, it is a really nice river with birds, fiddlecrabs, and peaceful trees and rock formations. We paddled for 3 hours.
