The Island Getaway is delightful taste of the islands in a small package, with no kayaking experience necessary. Paddle to an island, camp for two nights, and enjoy your days how you like. Your guide is professional, fun, and a great chef!
Danzante Island is SKBM's most popular Getaway destination. It is one of 5 islands in the National Marine Park of the Bay of Loreto. UNESCO calls this the richest and most varied of any island-sea property on the World Heritage list. Less than 8 miles around, Danzante has the highest number of accessible beaches per mile, plus two hiking trails with stunning overlooks.
Private Getaways available starting at 2 people. Kids 5-13yrs (with adult, in double kayak) $400/person. Because the Island Getaway is a small-group trip (typically 3-6), SKBM can cater it to your needs and do their best to ensure that paddlers who don’t know each other have compatible skills and goals for their vacation.
SKBM features professional-quality equipment! Their kayaks are single, British-style kayaks with skegs, such as the NDK Explorer, Romany, and Pilgrim Expedition, plus P&H, and Tide Race. Seda doubles are available upon request. Werner Paddles 205-220cm. Don Beale Greenland paddles. Kokatat, MSR, Therm-a-Rest NeoAir. Seals, Snapdragon. SKBM is the only Nigel Dennis Expedition Centre in Mexico! This means we have excellent equipment and equally excellent safety standards.
Conditions vary widely in the Gulf! December through early March can get some wind, or they can be glassy. If it’s a bit choppy but still safe to go in a motorboat, you can motor-shuttle to or from the island for $250 per direction per 2 people. October and May can be toasty, and November, March & April are usually delightful! Snorkeling is best in October & November when the water is clear and warm.
