Coosa River in Alabama

Trip Overview

We had a wonderful float and fish on the Coosa river this weekend. The river is beautiful and full of wildlife. We saw two beavers, osprey, an eagle, numerous herons and turtles and best of all, BIG spotted bass.

The whitewater on the river is mostly class I but, there are some class II and class III sections. The larger whitewater is easy to portage if desired. All of the swift water is productive fishing and the river yielded a 3lbs13oz and 4lbs13oz spot. All the fish were caught on light tackle and light line (6-8lb test) so, the fight was very exciting!

Accommodations:

We camped at the end of the run at Coosa River Adventures and they shuttled us both days. This is a great outfitter -- they made us feel very at home!
