Trip Overview

My family and my wife's family have paddled the Coosa over the past ten years frequently and have always enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife. I proposed to my wife on the Coosa. We are not great paddlers but do enjoy the large variety of rapids. The excitement of running Moccasin Gap, going back up and doing it again is great. We spend relaxing time at the gap watching the kayakers surf and spin their boats. On one of our trips we met the owner of Southern Trails on the river and he gave us helpful advice on improving our canoeing skills. This is the outfitter that we use. Call Southern Trails at 334 272-1207 to rent canoes $30 and sit-on-tops ($20). Southern Trails gear was great they use Dagger canoes and great life jackets. Weve got sit-on-tops reserved next time for the whitewater festival.
