Trip Overview

I started my trip At Black Hall Marina in Old Lyme, right on the Black Hall River. My friend and I rented our Kayaks There and began our excursion out onto the Connecticut River Estuary, canoe and kayak trail. The kayak trail is part of the 500 acre Great Island Wildlife Management area, which is an extensive tidal paradise of endless coves and waterways where the Connecticut River meets the Long Island Sound. We packed a lunch and spent the entire day watching Ospreys dive for fish, exploring secluded islands, and taking in some of the most beautiful scenery Connecticut has to offer. It was the perfect way to escape civilation for awhile, and get in a great workout too!

The people at Black Hall Marina were great and made this day possible. They introduced me to a place that my friends and I are sure to visit again and again.
