Trip Overview

I paddled this body of water, managed by the Army Corps of Engineers, when the water level was dropped (approx. 50ft) for repairs to the boat launch. The entire concrete ramp was exposed, so I drove down the ramp, unloaded my boat, re-parked and launched.

I paddled around to the right (south) from the launch toward the dam, and then explored the opposite bank, where I hooked up with some smallmouths across from the launch.

Lots of rocky shoreline on the western bank, with mostly sandy shorelines on the eastern bank. The water level exposed tree stumps, large boulders, as well as points and drop-offs. The winds kicked up on the water and can make paddling challenging.

Accommodations:

Restrooms are available at the launch.

Fees:

No fees or permits required.

Directions:

Boat launch is located off of Rt. 8.
