Cape Fear in North Carolina - Weekend Trip Report

A self-supported trip created by MikeyLikesIt

Trip Overview

Just returned from a great weekender on the Cape Fear. Went from Buckhorn dam off hwy 42. to Lillington, about a 17 mile trip. Weather was great but water was a little low, had to get out a few places and get kayaks off rocks. Carried supplies on four kayaks and we were pretty well loaded down but well prepared.

Several nice rapids along the way and one small waterfall that got the best of me... went swimming! Camped out on large rock near Raven Rock state park Sat. night and caught some nice catfish.

Finished up the trip Sun. and was glad to get back home. You need to be in pretty good shape for this one!

Outfitting:

Four kayaks, camping gear, food...what ever else you may want.

Fees:

fishing permit if you fish.
