You'll take a water taxi from Whittier to just 3 miles from the glaciers, then be given instructions on operations. Then you'll cruise up the beautiful coastline littered with glaciers and dodging icebergs until you arrive at Beloit Glacier. You'll spend a good amount of time watching for calving ice before peddling around to Blackstone Glacier, where you'll beach for lunch in full view of the glacier. After lunch you'll hang out in front of Blackstone Glacier to view the calving ice, then paddle over to the massive waterfall and kittiwake rookery before paddling to the beach where the same water taxi will pick you up and return you to Whitter. This is about as much fun as you can have in one day!
Weather can change in very little time. Be prepared for it.
It's often cold in front of the glaciers, so having warm, windproof layers is important. We rent gear for the following rates:
