Trip Overview

I am from North Alabama and I'm used to doing flatwater, like rivers and lakes, and spend a lot of time on the Flint River in Huntsville. If you have been doing creeks, rivers, and lakes and are looking for some excitement, you definitely need to check out Bear Creek. it has everything from stuff for beginners to class 3 and 4 rapids.

It's a really beautiful place, great for kids and adults. There is a large flat rock area about halfway down the creek that's a great place for taking a break. There you can swim fish eat lunch or do a little kayak surfing in the class 2 rapid. A little ways past the lunch spot is a 25 foot waterfall that you portage around. It's a beautiful spot for taking pictures with friends or family.

I went for my first time the beginning of summer last year and literally went every other weekend for the rest of the summer. we couldn't get enough of it. The locals there are super friendly and the staff at the canoe rental are very nice and it's not very expensive to have them carry your boat for you and drop you off and pick you up. I just ordered a splash skirt for my perception sport and can't wait to get out on the water at Bear Creek....
