Woodland, Colorado

Rampart Reservoir

Description

This location requires some detective work, but the pristine waters and snow capped peaks in the background will give you a Rock Mtn. high for sure.

I suggest making a download of the map as you will have no service once you venture up the mountain out of town. As you begin the climb you will come upon a sign for the marina as well as a "no admittance" sign a short way down the road. Pay no attention and continue on. Within a mile or two you will come to a ranger hut where you can pay for admission and past through the gate for access to the boat ramp. Caution even in June on a brilliant sunny day, I was sad I did not have my boat skirt with me. The water and spray were freezing. After paddling till I was also frozen the view was worth it all.
