Description
The Willow Creek Launch Area is accessed from westbound Folsom Blvd between Blue Ravine Rd and Natoma Station Drive. As part of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, there is a $10 fee to park in the parking lot (Golden Poppy annual pass is honored here). There are covered/uncovered picnic tables and bathrooms next to the parking area. No running water.
A small pier at the paved boat launch - the immediate area is fairly shallow and very calm, and somewhat sheltered from the wind, so it's a good place to practice if you are just starting out. Paddling out into the main lake the water gets deeper and a slight current is noticeable, along with the afternoon breeze. The area can get busy on summer weekend afternoons, but there is plenty of space for everyone.
