Description
Also the home of Paddle Vic who host various training, sporting and social events here. Stepped wooden and soil launch area, about a minute or so walk to the car park. This launch area has recently (2019) had some work done on it. Underneath the Fitzsimons Lane bridge is a concrete stepped viewing area, overlooking some Class 2 rapids and slalom poles. The set up, and deliberate rearrangement of rocks under the bridge sometimes occurs, changing conditions. So paddling up the rapids may be of a different challenge level, between visits. This area of the Yarra River has something for everyone. Used to teach groups of absolute beginners how to kayak, as well as used by competitors training, or taking part in other official kayaking events. This is not really a spot to go long long distances without encountering some rapids or portage, but a nice spot to play. Parkland is also home to Kangaroos, Wombats and have even spotted a Koala.
