Description

Utica Res. is the best boat-in camping in California. You can enjoy miles of convoluted, granite shorelines without ever being more than a 45 minute paddle from your car. There are campsites all around the lake and on the islands. There are several large group campsites mostly in the South part of the lake nearest the Union Res. Damn. This lake gets a lot of use in the summer months, so starting your campsite search midweek is a good idea in peak season. May and September are also excellent times. The lake stays full and is for non-motorized craft only. There are car campsites too that are usually full. This is the high-sierra so gear up accordingly.
