Squannacook River - Townsend Harbor Pond

Townsend Harbor Pond

Description

Newly redone launch for cartop boats leads to the “Harbor Pond” above the dam at the Cooperage. The river heads upstream near the Rt. 119 side of the pond, there are trees across and a beaver dam at the edge of the pond leading into the river. On the South Row Rd. side of the pond there is another stream coming in with a beaver dam there too. The pond is a few miles to paddle all the way around and there is plenty of wildlife to see. It does fill with Lily pads later in the summer which makes less of the pond accessible, but you can paddle the two main channels from the river and stream.
