Description
From the parking lot for Theodore Roosevelt Island National Park. it is possible to put kayaks in the water at a few places along the parking lot, but it may be difficult for those with mobility limitations.
There is an enjoyable paddle around the island. The area may be busy with watercraft since there are kayak rental locations and a crew boathouse on the other side of the river. It is also possible to paddle approximately 4.5 miles up river approaching Little Falls beyond the Chain Bridge.
There is a public restroom on the island approximately one half mile from the parking lot. The parking lot may be very busy on summer weekends.
