This part of the river feels like a medium-size lake, so not the worst for a beginner. Be sure not to venture in the rapids just downstream of the beach. When launching, the rapids are on the left. You can easily paddle to Bate Island from here.
IF YOU ARE PADDLING THROUGH, AND FOLLOWING THE COURSE OF THE RIVER:
1. If you aren’t experienced with rapids, this is the last calm landing point from which you can portage about 400 metres on a bike path and gravel trail before launching back on the river towards the end of Bourget street.
2. If you are experienced with rapids, I would still steer clear of the Quebec shore (North) for the next 300 metres. Look at satellite images to plan your course through or do your thing if you know what you’re doing.
