Description

Going north on US Hwy 64 through Manteo, turn right onto the exist road for Fort Raleigh, Lost Colony and Elizabethan Gardens. Turn left onto National Park Drive and left onto Pear Pad Rd, road ends at a cul-de-sac parking area. The sound can be seen from parking area. It's a 50 yard walk to the sanding beach launch. From here, you can paddle south pass the Lost Colony, Banana Island, Mother Vineyards Rd and on to Festival Park and Shallowbag Bay. Paddle north to the end of Roanoke Island turn south paddle under William B. Umstead Memorial Bridge pass the North Carolina Aquarium, pass the Dare County Airport continuing on the second canal on your left has markers directing you into Bowerstown Rd boat ramp.
