Old Mill Pond Put-In

Old Mill Pond/Gunpowder Creek

Description

After putting in, paddle underneath the bridge to a narrow path of water that is laden with birds (big blue herons), frogs, and dragonflies. Follow the water to right at each of the forks. Many downed trees are in the water but are passable; however it would be a good idea to bring a small hand saw to make it easier. Also bug spray is a must. Check out a google map to see the length of the water. We paddled for an hour until we were stopped by a tree but the by the looks of the map we could have continued for another hour. We think we got close to Dudley Shoals Rd. Also this trail is surprisingly secluded despite its location. After 10 minutes of paddling, we did not see any houses. Water is stocked by NFW. We did see 2 duck blinds: potential hazard during duck season.
