Blue River is on the National Scenic River registry and rightfully so. The Blue is fed by no less than seven major springs and countless smaller springs, making it navigable most of the year. It is also rich history from the prehistoric fossil beds to remnants of the great Bison migrations to Native and early American life along its banks. The Blue River provides excellent photo opportunities for serval varieties of trees and wildflowers. Keep your cameras easily accessible because the wildlife sightings are not lacking. Deer, turkey, squirrels, raccoons, turtles and geese are mixed in with hawks, owls, kingfishers and biterns. Lesser seen varieties of duck of hide in the roots along the banks and if you are lucky, some of the always curious, River otters and even the Bald eagles. The Hell Bender salamander is even making a comeback on the River.
