Nice little lake & river section for a short 1 to 2 hour paddle when your stuck in the city. This put in at the east end of the lake just above the dam has the advantage of getting you the closest to the water from your car and parking's free along the road. Also the park entrance on McCowan is usually locked in the shoulder seasons & there's a fee during the summer months. When out on the water stay to the south edge of the lake along the western half of the lake as it can be deceivingly shallow in spots. You can also follow the river up a fair way to McCowan Rd. and beyond.
