Locust Street

Lemoyne, US

Description

Wormleysburg's Locust Street launch is a no-frills but very pleasant access point immediately across the Susquehanna River from downtown Harrisburg and City Island. There is no obvious sign, so look for the benches and the opening in the guardrail along Front Street at the Locust St intersection. Just out of sight from the road is a well paved, gentle ramp down to a small gravel beach. A small sign at the top indicates parking is not permitted, and that presumably applies at the bottom as well (where there is room to unpack and maneuver vehicles, but not to stay). However, there is free street parking along both Front and Locust streets. There are no restrooms, water, or other facilities available at this access point.
