Description
Lake Underhill Park is an urban park in Orlando, FL. It has a running path with exercise stations that is part of a larger fitness system. It also has a 147 acre lake that is bisected by a SR 408 overpass.
We've driven past the lake innumerable times. The water always looked choppy-ish and boats and ski-doors often populate it. Today, we decided to do it. We were very pleased we did.
The smaller half of the lake is surrounded by the fitness path. The overpass is about 5 feet above the water at the end by the boatramp and 12 at the other. (Oh! Wear footwear with some treads. The floor of the boat ramp is mossy and VERY slick.).
The larger side of the lake is 2-3 times the size of the smaller. You can sit out there and watch the planes take off from the adjacent Executive Airport. Along the edges are lovely lilly pads. There is no shade on the lake, but under the overpass, it's lovely and visually fascinating.
It is a nice place to get your paddleboard fix especially if you live in the neighborhood. Next time we bring lunch.
