Paddling left for the launch point and then turning left after the small island will take you further into Lake Norman State Park. There is a split a short way after the left turn - go left to a small dam near the park visitor center or go right down a shaded channel and under the park bridge to a small pond.
Going right off the launch point will take you around the peninsula that contains the family camping area and into the Lake Norman main channel. Main channel is likely to have motorboat travel especially on weekends.
Bathroom at the end of the parking lot opposite the launch area.
