South Fork Catawba River

Description

The Goat Island Greenway is .7 miles of paved surface trail, including two pedestrian bridges that go over two sections of the South Fork Catawba River onto Goat Island Park.

Goat Island Park features an observation pier, two canoe/kayak landings, two picnic shelters, a natural tree house style playground, 18 hole disc golf course, ADA accessible greenway, walking trails, fitness pavilion and an open air amphitheater located in the Town Center. One of the canoe/kayak launches is located behind the fire department and the second one is across the river on Goat Island. There is also a designated pedestrian lane on the roads leading from Lakewood Road to the parking lot at Greenwood Place.
