- Darby Creek at Hoffman Park
Description
Accessible by SEPTA 107, 109 or Media Elwyn line.
I put in at Baltimore pike and Scottdale rd across from parking lot, paddled in an NRS Outlaw 1 about 2.2 mi to Darby transportation center, and took out just past the Chester pike bridge at a trail on the left.
There were about 1 percent deep rapids, 5 percent shallow riffles that required pulling the boat or scooching over rocks, and the rest was calm pools.
Caution: in high water there may be a dangerous strainer right before the Providence rd bridge (see photo in comments).
I saw deer, heron, ducks and trout.
