Chapman Field

Chapman Lagoon Access/Biscayne Bay Access

Description

This is a paddle for more experienced kayakers, and not one you really want to do with small children. Also, it is better to kayak rather than paddle board here as the lake does have crocodiles in it and you should generally only paddle board in places where you wouldn't mind swimming in case you fall into the water, which is more likely to happen on a board than in a kayak. Also, depending on the tides, it can be difficult to manuever through the mangrove trails while standing on a paddle board since there can be little above head clearance during higher tides.

Most paddlers with less experience or just looking for an easy paddle should plan to launch out of Deering Point at Old Cutler and around SW 174th St.
