Chopawansic Creek (South Branch)

Description

This 42 acre reservoir is bordered by Chopawamsic Backcountry Area (Prince William Forest Park) on the east and Marine Corps Base Quantico on the west. There is no shoreline development anywhere on the reservoir. Lake access is via the Marine base (New Breckenridge Road - unpaved). No permit required; however access to the Marine Corps Base requires a pass (more below) or a military or Dept. of Defense civilian ID card. Civilians can request access by completing the linked form. The application is straightforward; though you will need to pick up the pass on-base at MCB Quantico. They will issue a temporary pass at the gate for that purpose.
