Bate’s Island/Île Bate

Rivières des Outaouais/Ottawa River

Description

There are rapids (or at least a strong current) and either side of the island, so it may be difficult to go upstream, but downstream is nice, calm and wide. Until you reach the rapids about a kilometre downstream, that is. If your plan is to portage through these rapids to an even nicer section of the river, I recommend landing at Moussette Beach on the Quebec shore (North) just before the rapids, and portaging down the bike and gravel paths down towards the end of Rue Bourget (about 400m).
