Description

Run down but accessible launch site adjacent to the bridge. The canal consists of 16.5 miles of waterway/ditches that stretch from a spot near Shallotte to the Waccama River near the South Carolina. The ditches were first dug in 1964 in an attempt to prevent flooding in the region, protecting crop and pasture land in the southwestern portion of Brunswick County in areas near the Waccamaw and Pee Dee watershed.
