As for this kayak, I should had read the reviews prior to this purchase as I have to agree with the stability issues. I did get a hang of it after the first 20-30 minutes or so, although still do not feel completely safe from tipping. I spent 2 hours on a fairly calm lake with the odd speed boat flying by and managed to stay upright the entire time. i am quite active for balance, cycling, snowboarding, etc... The speed of this kayak is very impressive, tracks very well, and the faster i went the more stable it became. My stats, 6'1, 230 lbs, waist 38", chest 58". These stats tell me that I am a top heavy center of balance, making it far harder to maintain slow speed stability. I would suggest a different product if you are anywhere similar to these stats. The opening was a perfect fit though, I did not to give a lower star value and stuck with a 3, this is a great product for the right person, unfortunately I am not the right 'fit' for this kayak. The great news, I contacted the retailer where I purchase this kayak and they will let me trade in for the Inuvik 13' and just add the few extra $. the hull design offers more stability for me, the extra 2" width will also help, although the main difference is the hull design. looking forward to reviewing the Inuvik soon.
