I started with the Old Town Predator pedal, and after one year, decided to switch to the Minn Kota motor driven version as I still wasn't truly "hands free" with the pedal drive. I must say, the Minn Kota makes all the difference! I fish primarily for bass in smaller, electric only lakes, and use a lot of crank baits, topwaters, and soft plastics for bass in and around heavy cover. I also do a lot of "run and gun" fishing where I keep the trolling motor on low-to-medium and just cast cast cast. The Minn Kota Predator is made for this type of fishing. And when I want to take a break and eat a snack or just relax, I pop a couple rods in rod holders and troll for stripers or even big, suspended bass. My only complaint, and it isn't really a complaint as much as an observation, is that this is not a typical "kayak" in the sense of the word. You are not going to easily lug this thing around as it is HEAVY! When fully loaded with gear, tackle, and full size marine battery, this thing probably weighs close to 175 lbs. And believe me, I have tried every which way to transport it and finally had to break down and buy a trailer for it, which I did not want to do and was one reason I wanted to switch to strictly kayak fishing. But the boat is so heavy, even with wheels attached (I have the boon-dox permanent wheels attached), you will still struggle a lot getting this thing up a ramp and to your truck without backing up the trailer. It's more of a small boat than a large kayak. But I love it!!
