This is my first kayak. I bought a 10 ft. one not knowing if I could handle anything larger. So far I have not been disappointed. The kayak tracks pretty good (except on windy days), is real stable and a comfortable platform. I have taken it on the river, in the bay and BTB and it has not disappointed me. The only minor complaint I have is as mentioned by another reviewer is that the front hatch does not seal tightly therefore, allowing water to seep in. will need a dry bag before taking it on my fall river trip.
Overall I highly recommend this as a first time kayak.
