Kasai Description

The Kasai is the first Vagabond kayak ever designed. The idea behind the company was to create a range of kayaks that bridge the gap between conventional recreational kayaks and high-performance kayaks. Founder Celliers Kruger wanted to create kayaks that have the stability of conventional recreational boats but that are fun to paddle by anyone, including highly skilled paddlers. The Kasai is a perfect expression of this concept. Sleek, fast and extremely stable, it’s a playful and versatile single-seater,. Paddle this kayak daily for sport and fitness or take it out on weekends or on vacation to paddle on dams, rivers and on the sea. Its hull is designed to glide, track and to change direction with only a few paddle strokes.

I bought this kayak used and have been doing mostly flat water training paddling on it on our lagoon in Walvis Bay Namibia. I have logged almost 430km on it now. It is very stable and I have been out on the ocean on a few fishing trips in swells of up to 2.8m. For my purposes it is an excellent kayak it is relatively fast and have lots of storage space for when I go fishing. There are more than ample fittings to tie things like fishing crates down and where you can hook leashes or equipment to.
