The Ali'i I and II are great all around boards, the size makes them excellent for beginners on all waters. They track well, are incredibly stable in flat and "textured" water. Though a little large they handle well in small surf.
Pros
Stability, tracking, easy to catch waves, great board for kids and folks up to 250++ pounds
Cons
too big for me in surf
Usage
this is a classic all around crossover board

I actually have the Alii II. This is the best crossover board on the market. Excellent touring, stable in rough water, tracks well, not a racer, but I placed in events using this board. Surfs very well for the size. Small to medium (head high) surf.
Pros
great all around board. Surfs OK, tracks very well, I rarely change sides while paddling. excellent for touring as it handles well in open ocean and rough water.
Cons
This is a all purpose board. Good for surf but not great, Not a racer, but tracks well.
Usage
all waters, surf, river, flatwater, open ocean, touring

Excellent all around (cross over) sup. small surf, paddle all waters except whitewater.
Pros
Great for surf (small to medium), tracks well, stable in open ocean paddling. Paddles well in windy conditions.
Cons
not a race board, but not designed to be one. turns slow in surf, as any 11'6" would. If you are strictly surfing, I would get a smaller board designed specifically for surf.
Usage
surfing, paddling open ocean, bays,
