I like to collect flashlights…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 8/5/2004
I like to collect flashlights and thought that my Pelican Stealth 4AA was the best waterproof light, but so far I like the Surge light better. It is incredibly bright and seems rugged too. Princeton recommends not using any type of rechargable batteries in this light though. I used some rechargables in the Pelican without any problem, but like almost all rechargables, they loose most of thier charge within a month of just sitting, which leaves you with a dead flashlight. If you shop around the alkalines are not too expensive if you get a discount store branded battery. The beam is also adjustable on this light and will penetrate darkness. It might be to bright however, to use if you needed your night vision back quickly. For the price of this light, compared to other high end lights, the Surge is a winner.

This light makes more light…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 3/2/2004
This light makes more light than my 4 D cell Mag-Light and is about 1/4 the weight and length. It is a scuba light but perfectly suited to the wet world of kayak touring. I only wish it had a low power as well as the high power option on the switch.
