I've had the roto molded…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 6/23/2014
I've had the roto molded version of this kayak for a couple of years. I bought it after testing an Old Town Cayuga which had stability issues. While not quite as quick as the Cayuga, it is way more stable. I can snooze in this one without getting wet!

The cockpit is tight to squeeze even my 140 lb frame into. If you're over 190, forget it. The seat hanger broke within a month. I repaired it myself. The seat hanger is poorly designed. If you can afford it, buy the air seat. Although it doesn't solve the hanger problem, it is way more comfy for extended paddles. No room in the cockpit for anything more than your legs. I'm able to squeeze my tackle box between them, but it's tight. A cup holder would have been a nice addition to the seat.

Be careful strapping it down on the rack. Be sure to strap where there is internal support or you will distort the hull... So far, no other problems.

I would recommend this to a beginning to novice paddler, and the plastic hull allows you to beach it without worries of scarring that pristine glass!
