when I bought this boat used it was to sale. That was un till I paddled it. At a length of 18 feet I thought there was now was I would be able to use on our rivers and small creeks. Was I ever wrong with the rudder I am able yo get this boat in and out of places that I had trouble with a 12 foot getting into. It has also opened up a area of paddling that I had stayed away from our area lakes. With the amount of motor boats on our lakes I just did not feel stable or seem to have the speed to get around our local lakes. This boat truly has changed that for me. Now I can handle a boat wake and have the speed and handling to take advantage of our lakes.
Empty she has enough speed to surf big ocean ground swells. With practice, a combination of edging, rudder and sweep strokes can make her turn like a much smaller boat-regardless of load.
I've done two Everglades Challenges (see www.watertribe.com) and did very well in both races.
