Cuda HD Description

The Cuda HD is designed for performance in in-shore and lake applications. The hull design features a low profile which reduces the effects of wind and faster hull design which provides a nice balance between speed and stability. A wider hull creates a more stable standing platform and makes the Cuda HD well-suited for larger paddlers, beginners and more gear. The new Elite Seat 3.0 System has multiple hi/lo positions and can move forward and aft for self trimming. A Plano® box comes standard and fits comfortably in the under seat storage pockets. The seat can also be removed for use on shore.

Love this fishing Kayak! I basically lived on this Kayak all spring and summer, from the coastal Carolina Outer Banks to the Blue Ridge Mountains' French Broad River, the 4th oldest river in the world. Jackson's Cuda has served me well during the dry season we had in the Piedmont and Triad regions. Although it's fairly heavy (and super heavy duty/rugged/tough), it's easy to handle and navigate during lower water levels...while the fishing during those times - not so easy ;-) Great storage systems, enough for overnight trips, fry up some fish, sleep in my hammock, and wake up to paddle another leg. Tons of tie downs and connection points so your fishing gear is easily accessible. The ample tie downs and rails for accessories is also good for beginners so you don't lose all your expensive gear when you flip over a time or two (it's bound to happen in the river, just don't paddle alone and don't panic). Not to mention how cool they look! I love Jackson Kayak's style and get tons of compliments. I added my own drag anchor system for fishing the lakes on windy days. Did not get a rudder system, but it comes prepared with all the clearances/channels to install one if I should decide to later on. I often take my two dogs out on it, where one sits behind my cooler (*which I strap in behind my chair) and the other stands with her paws at the Bow, leading the charge. As long as they don't move around too much, we fair really well. Highly recommend.

Jackson scored big. Their kayaks are built with the avid fisherman in mind. Every detail of this boat was well engineered to produce a very fishable craft out of the box. Their cutomer service is second to none

I had 2 Cuda 12 kayaks I sold in order to get the HD and it's the best decision I have made in regards to my kayaking years. The HD is 3" longer and 2" wider than the 12 and the difference is unparalleled. The HD is more stable in the high seat position than the 12 is in the low seat position. The seat itself is on 2 slide tracks that allow you to adjust for leg distance to foot pegs in high & low position but it also allows aft control of the kayak. This gives to greater stability when the kayak is under different loads. The front hatch is definitely an improvement over the 12. The larger opening and access truly opens up the benefit of total under hull storage. Jackson makes a bin that fits in the hatch that costs another $25 that comes free with the Mayfly. I use this as my battery compartment for electronics now. In the 12 I used the center hatch for battery housing but how that area in open and can store my tackle boxes now. I did get the rudder. I had one on one of my Cuda 12s and will never have a boat without one. The HDs rudder is easier and better designed than the 12s. Ease of use is a breeze. The only thing I can say the 12 has that is better is the size of the storage are behind the seat. The shortened that area when designing the HD to allow for the sliding seat. I cant fit what I used to and am looking for a new way to store gear. The HD has about enough room for a milk crate and a pdf. With the 12 I could also get a small 8 pack cooler on deck. Other than that the HD smokes this boat. Overall there is no comparison. The HDs speed and stability make it head and shoulders above the 12. Jackson did a great job making this boat an almost carefree paddle. Its gonna suck when they make the Cuda FD and I upgrade again but I'm looking forward to it.
