I aquired a 10 traditional canoe. I do lots of portages, hunting, trapping and fishing. It hauls me and Chesapeake Bay Retrievers around well.

I've had my Golden Hawk…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/20/2021

I've had my Golden Hawk canoe for about a year now, my husband and I love it! We have the 10' traditional model in blue, and live within a very short walk to the James River in Richmond, VA where we canoe regularly. Fits the two of us just fine with plenty of room for dry bag and cooler. This sucker is light and easy to transport, it's very "floaty" on the water, doesn't feel like it'll tip easily. She takes on large wakes from boats speeding by and it doesn't phase her. Very sturdy build too, we scrape this thing over rocks sometimes and she still looks good! I did a lot of research beforehand to find a lightweight canoe that wasn't exorbitantly priced...I've had lots of canoes/kayaks in the past (from heavy canoes, to light inflatables, to folding kayaks) and this seems to be the best of all the worlds. Now granted this thing isn't going to win any speed races on the water any time soon, but that's not what we were looking for. Perfect to float and birdwatch, and just enjoy the water, and easy enough to transport so we can get on the water more often!

Tried one last week-end (canoe renting) on a medium size creek with my dog. Just perfect!

This is simply a fantastic canoe and the customer service is excellent. I bought this canoe last summer and my son and I fish with it while paddling rivers and trolling on small lakes. I have the 10' and it still has enough room for the two us, our duck hunting gear and our 75lb. curly coated retriever. Thanks Golden Hawk!

Took the whole family out in the Golden Hawks to do some pan fishing. I let my 8 year old son Kaden go out in the 10'er by himself for the first time and he loved it. I don't think Ive ever seen him smile that big. He was able to maneuver the canoe at will and loved the fact that he could stand up and fish with out the worry of tipping over. The 10'er is unbelievably stable.

I researched canoes for about a year before I bought my Golden Hawk. I needed a canoe that I could car top solo, be very stable and cost around $1,000. I found it with Golden Hawk. It exceeded all my expectations. It is light, stable and has a very unique look. The workmanship was outstanding. I would highly recommend this canoe.

I recently purchased a 10' Traditional Golden Hawk Canoe for small creek, remote backcountry exploration and trapping. It is exceptional in every category...lightweight, durability, functionality, heavy load capacity, good looks, manueverability, portability and overall value. I have owned a wide variety of canoes over the past 50 years, but this canoe stands above all the rest for my current needs!

I purchased this canoe earlier this year and simply love it. I use it for fishing and canoeing with my wife. It's very stable, light-weight - easy for one person to handle, to load & unload into even a short 6' box of a pickup truck.
