    I purchased an CCS Explorer…

    Submitted by: TBebee on 6/21/2022

I purchased an CCS Explorer pack a year ago and have had a chance to use it multiple times since then. First off the pack is really well made, has a normal haul loop on the back as well as two additional haul loops on the sides. This makes it much easier loading and unloading the pack in the canoe. The zipper pocket holds a good amount of cargo, as long as it is flat. I use if for my maps, tarp and any food I want to get to while paddling during the day. The body is just straight forward single pocket, with a good size extension collar. The side flaps buckle over the top, and provide a generous amount of webbing so that the flaps buckle, even with the extension collar is fully utilized. Overall the design is very clean and provides enough space, without any daisy chains, so you are not hanging stuff on the outside of the pack.

This pack has been used for mainly solo trips so far and has provided all the capacity I need for the duration I normally go (2-5 nights). I have never used the entire capacity the pack provides on these trips. However, recently my wife went and although the Explorer was "packed to the gills", it held all the equipment we needed, although we did take a small barrel for food. Bottom-line is that we even were able to do single carry using the Explorer and the barrel. This pack was a great investment and I am glad that I chose the Explorer. I know they make two larger models and can not imagine how much gear they could hold.
