I would not buy another one of these. The cam lock buckles slip under load. You can somewhat fix this by tying the extra webbing into a half hitch behind the buckles, but you have to account for the slippage when tying the knot. It's not as bad as a stock Dagger backband and is fairly comfortable, hence the 3 instead of a 1. But if you want a good backband that's comfortable and won't slip, get an Immersion Research ratcheting band.

Yes, the buckles slip when rolling or severely torquing the boat. I'm sure my technique could be better; I weigh 230 and am strong, but why should a backband slip. I use knots to back the buckles up. Other than the slippage it's great, but other than 40 pounds, I'm svelte.

Poor design for sea kayaks. The pot metal back band adjuster buckles are weak, corrode in salt water, release under hard bracing and both models "roll" and allow one's back to hit the rear comaing when eskimo rolling. It's a bad design, too expensive and poorly contructed. Retrofitting makes one think about making your own, and you can make a better back and if you think about it and work at it.
