My wife and I use these is the bay and the board handles 2 to 3 foot swells and is easy to stay on. My wife is 5 foot and she can carry the board. I do recommend for anyone starting out.

Pros
For the price you can't beat them. They go for as low as $450 at the end of the season. Paddles are nice and adjust.

Cons
Dents easy. cap vent is higher than the top deck of the board. The elastic sucks as do the locking clips.
Usage
Exercise, touring

Great and solid board for…

Great and solid board for beginner to intermediate. Stable, tracks well. Bungee is great for carrying gear. I've used it in big ocean rollers, chop and lakes and rivers and was one of the only still standing. Good for yoga too. Mine came with board cover, leash and paddle. After 2 years of constant use it's still going strong. Good solid board.

Pros
Stable. Easy you carry, great all-around.

Cons
A little heavy on a long walk to the beach. Not as fast as a displacement hull, but a great trade off for stability.
Usage
Exercise, touring, light surf.

The Beaver board by Jimmy Styks is a fantastic SUP for beginners and intermediates.
This is a well-balanced board which provides good stability and works well in choppy water.
I've used to practise Yoga on it and I couldn't be happier!

I love the Board and all my…

Submitted by: guest-paddler on 9/16/2015

I love the Board and all my friends that tried it out did too. They sold out from COSTCO very quick so my friends were not happy. I bought a Scout Ironhide from West Marine for my wife as I could not afford two boards at the time. We love the board and so does my friend that also settled for the more robust heavier 6 lbs board. I have beach wheels so moving it around is no big deal.

Pros
Beaver is lighter and more stable, tracks straight nicely and is cool to surf on small waves

Cons
BIG CON is I could not buy another for the price Costco sold it for, I phoned Jimmy styks to see if they would ship more to the Costco as I had a few friends wanting to buy it and they told me to go to West marine, Pay $200 more, not likely.
Usage
Casual touring in the Gulf and intercostal, surf waves when they available. one evening each week we do 5-8 miles for exercise, I mean we power up and get some mileage in the 2 hours after work.

I heard great things about this brand and really like the woodgrain look and needed a big board as I am 6'6 tall and a big guy but have no problem balancing and is a lot better than any of the rentals I used before.
Satisfied Happy customer!

Pros
I like the maneuverabiliy of the board despite its length

Cons
It can be tough to store and is still on the heavy side compare to some boards
Usage
recreation and exercise!
